Lana Del Rey has been swept up in a body-shaming scandal with another singer following her jaw-dropping weight loss. 

The Born to Die songstress, 40, lost a huge amount of weight over the last year after her figure ballooned during the Covid pandemic.

Despite being in the best shape of her life, Lana shockingly accused transgender singer-songwriter Ethel Cain, 27, of body-shaming her. 

In a now-removed comment on Instagram, Lana expressed, ‘I only learned about Ethel a few years back – when it was pointed out to me that she frequently posted unsettling and graphic images. These were side-by-side comparisons of me, often alongside unappealing creatures and cartoon characters, with ongoing remarks about my weight.’

‘I was confused at what she was getting at. Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.’

Ethel reacted to the drama on her Instagram Stories on Thursday by announcing that Lana had blocked her.

While it’s unclear how exactly Lana and Ethel’s beef started, fans have long speculated that the pair have been trading subtle jabs at each other for years. 

Since the feud erupted publicly, countless fans have taken to social media to weight in on the situation.

‘I feel so so sorry for Lana Del Rey and all the comments on her weight that she had to face for years. I swear to god I have no idea why people are so at ease to criticize her every single time,’ commented one. 

‘Not everyone getting mad at Lana knowing damn f***ing well y’all would be Lana if you found out some b***h was comparing your weight gain to CARTOON CREATURES,’ raged another.

However, others defended Ethel and said that there was no proof that the rising singer had ever body-shamed Lana or even commented on her weight before.

‘I wish I could find any evidence of body shaming. Lana stans please send them because…’ commented one. 

A second added, ‘I mean there’s no other evidence of Ethel body shaming Lana so people can’t say either way.’ 

Lana, who was known for her slender figure when she burst onto the music scene in 2011, gained weight during the Covid pandemic.

She was often pictured at the time running out to get fast food.

The hitmaker returned with a much slimmer physique last year, most notably while headlining Coachella.

While some fans have speculated that she may have used Ozempic to achieve her trim look, others believe that her figure is down to hard work in the gym.

Lana has always been a fan of strength training and has been seen working out with fitness coach Kirk Myers, who also trains Taylor Swift.

Chiropractor Dr. Daniel Psaltis also claimed that Lana’s weight loss was all natural in a viral TikTok video.

‘Look at those quads. That is not Ozempic, folks,’ he said.

‘That’s not something you can buy in the store, that’s good old fashioned hard work in the gym. Her transformation is amazing, and doable for most people.’

Lana’s rival Ethel burst onto the music scene in 2022 with her debut album, ‘Preacher’s Daughter’.

The album was acclaimed by critics and reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200, making Ethel the first openly transgender artist to score a top ten album.

Her indie-pop style has earned her comparisons to Lana from music critics, which Ethel has dismissed as ‘lazy’.

She released her sophomore album, ‘Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You’, on August 8.

Meanwhile, Lana has been busy working on her tenth studio album for the last two years.

It was originally a country-inspired record called Lasso, but the songstress scrapped the idea and changed the album’s title to The Right Person Will Stay.

She has since scrapped the second title and the album currently has no release date.

The singer most recently completed a sold-out stadium tour of the UK.
