The year’s most significant event will feature acclaimed designers and celebrities walking the celebrated Met Gala red carpet, but several prominent MAGA personalities won’t be present.

Each year, on the first Monday of May, Hollywood’s biggest names attend the highly anticipated event in their most extravagant and lavish outfits.

In 2017, Wintour announced on James Corden’s The Late Late Show that President Donald Trump would never be invited back to the star-studded ball.

He and the First Lady regularly attended the gala in the past, and Trump even proposed to her in April 2004 while on their way there.

Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Wintour, serves as the commanding host of the Met Gala, orchestrating each detail of the guest list and determining who makes the cut.

Despite the secrecy, certain public figures, many of whom are associated with Trump, will not be in attendance tonight.

According to a source, Elon Musk, known as the president’s First Buddy, will not attend the gala, as reported by The New York Times. He had attended the event three times before, with his last appearance in 2022.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez, who attended the event last year, will also not be there, the outlet reported.

In addition to high profile MAGA figures, big name celebrities will also not be on the carpet tonight, including Kanye West (pictured with his now ex-wife Kim Kardashian in 2019)

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta who went to Trump’s inauguration in January, will also not be on the red carpet.

However, Adam Mosseri, the chief executive of Instagram, will be there like he has in previous years.

Bernard Arnault, the chairman of LVMH, who also went to Trump’s inauguration, will not be there. Arnault has not attended the gala since 1996.

Pietro Beccari, the chief executive of Louis Vuitton – an LVHM brand – will be attending.

While many leading MAGA supporters won’t be there, other political figures, including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be there.

There is also a rumor circulating that former Vice President Kamala Harris might attend as well, the source said.

The charity fundraiser is meant to be about representation and fashion, Wintour said.

She added that ‘the show was never about politics, not in conception, not now.’ Instead, Wintour said it’s really about ‘self-determination, beauty, creativity and holding up a lens to history.’

Although she acknowledged the true purpose of the event, Wintour pointed out that this year’s theme has a ‘heightened meaning in 2025’ because it is ‘recognizing and taking seriously the contributions of Black designers and the Black community in fashion.’

The theme this year is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ – inspired by the book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’ written by Monica L. Miller.

This will be the first time the event is entirely dedicated to designers of color, and specifically focuses on the way black men have used fashion as a tool to challenge stereotypes and command honor and respect.

Along with Wintour, co-chairs, including Lewis Hamilton, ASAP Rocky, Colman Domingo and Pharrell Williams and honorary chair LeBron James will be running the event.

Cultural critic Louis Piscano told the outlet: ‘This feels way bigger than just fashion.’

‘Putting Black style front and center sends a real message,’ he stated, adding: ‘It’s important that we don’t sit this one out.’

Piscano said he’s ‘already bracing for the conservative backlash’ the event will get, but that is ‘why it’s especially important that people show up.’

In addition to high profile MAGA figures, big name celebrities will also not be on the carpet tonight, including Kanye West.

He hasn’t been invited back since 2022 when Wintour vowed to never work with him again after his anti-Semitic rants.

And even before that, he was a habitual Met Gal skipper – his last appearance was actually in 2019 when he attended with his then wife Kim Kardashian.

While Kim Kardashian is expected to attend in 2025, the reality star has made a series of pro-Trump subtle statements on her Instagram in recent months.

Most notably, she shared a photo of Melania Trump’s inauguration outfit – with many fans saying it was a clear show of who she voted for in the election.

Kardashian has never publicly endorsed Donald Trump.

Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is opting out this year due to work commitments.

Since her first attendance in 1995 the actress, 60, Sarah has been a regular at the annual New York fashion event.

There is also a question mark over Hailey and Justin Bieber’s attendance at this year’s Met Gala.

The model was present at every Met Gala from 2017 until 2022. Meanwhile her husband Justin has only attended twice, once in 2015 and then again in 2021.

The singer has sparked concerns about his health and possible drug use in recent months after stepping out in public looking gaunt and hollow-eyed.

Amy Schumer’s comments on the Met Gala didn’t get her banned but she has made her feelings on the event clear.

Speaking during an interview with Howard Stern in 2016 the actress said: ‘It’s people doing an impression of having a conversation.

‘I don’t like the farce…We’re dressed up like a bunch of f*****g assholes. I don’t like it. I have no interest in fashion…I don’t care.’

Zayn Malik attended the 2016 Met Gala with his then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid but made it clear he had no interest in a redo, especially as the couple have now split.

Dua Lipa, Zendaya and Sabrina Carpenter are expected to attend.
