LeAnn Rimes has revealed that she’s had to keep her health struggles under wraps, just months after her teeth fell out mid-performance.

The 43-year-old singer candidly discussed in a new interview published on Tuesday the emotional and mental impact the last few years have had on her.

‘For a long time, I felt like I was hiding a lot of who I am,’ she shared with Us Weekly, noting that the secrecy fostered feelings of self-doubt.

‘It allowed insecurities to surface, like past thoughts of “I’m not pretty, I’m not good enough”,’ Rimes elaborated. ‘I’ve learned to love myself through my various phases.’

Although she felt compelled to hide her health struggles, Rimes has been forthcoming about dealing with psoriasis, which she first disclosed in 2020.

She said ‘it was such a moment of relief’ to publicly share her diagnosis ‘because I had been hiding that for so long.’

LeAnn Rimes (seen at the premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville on Tuesday night) revealed in an interview with Us Weekly that she's had to 'hide so much' regarding her health struggles just months after her teeth fell out mid-performance

LeAnn Rimes (pictured at the 9-1-1: Nashville premiere on Tuesday night) shared with Us Weekly that she’s had to ‘hide so much’ about her health battles, just months after experiencing a dental mishap during a performance.

‘The same with my mental health and now with perimenopause,’ she continued. ‘Every time I talk about it, I set myself — and someone else — free.’

Rimes — who joined the cast of the upcoming series 9-1-1: Nashville in its title city on Tuesday — mused on how much she had changed over the years.

‘Looking back at all of those different people I was, I know that next year I’ll be different from who I am now. I hope I am,’ she said.

‘I’m learning to embrace all parts of myself. Some aspects are tougher to love, but now I have the space and ability,’ Rimes added. ‘I can speak to myself with more kindness.’

Despite facing health struggles, the performer confirmed that she now feels ‘great’.

‘My physical health has been something I’ve focused on the past few years, and preparing my body for the changes it’s going through.’

Rimes has dealt with perimenopause symptoms for years, as they began when she was only in her late 30s.

She told Us Weekly that she has dealt with ‘grief’ due to her condition.

‘Perimenopause is not just about not making eggs anymore. That’s a biological piece of us changing,’ she explained. ‘It’s such a deepening of the soul and allowing pieces of us that no longer serve us to fall away.’

She added, ‘It is such a transformational and beautiful part of life if we know what’s going on with our bodies.’

In July, Rimes admitted during a conversation with Flow Space that she thought she was ‘crazy’ for two years due to her perimenopause symptoms.

‘I was waking up at 3 a.m. all the time, and having really, really heavy anxiety,’ she admitted.

The Coyote Ugly actress also suffers from psoriasis, a ‘chronic disease where skin cells build up quickly, typically causing red or discolored, scaly, and itchy patches on the skin,’ according to the National Psoriasis Foundation

Rimes — who is married to the actor Eddie Cibrian — explained to Flow Space that her skin ‘has been pretty clear for years now,’ and she said she’s now aware of what can trigger flare-ups.

However, Rimes admitted that it can also be ’emotionally exhausting’ when she’s forced to hide a flare-up due to her place in the spotlight.

‘It’s so draining because it’s something that you have to think about that most people don’t. So I was just very uncomfortable in my body for a long time.’

In January of 2024, Rimes gave her fans another update on her health, revealing that she underwent surgery to remove precancerous cells.

She wrote in the caption of an Instagram post: ‘January is usually a challenging month for me.

‘Over the past couple of years, I’ve either been going through dental surgeries or recovering from a vocal hemorrhage around this time, which was all pretty depressing. But, i have to say, this january, has been joyful and easeful.’

A few months earlier, the star had an annual pap smear that had abnormal results.

‘In fact, I’ve had abnormal paps since i was 17 and through regular pap smears and colposcopies, my doctors have been keeping an eye on any cellular changes that could be taking place.’

Rimes then explained that doctors discovered that she had high grade cervical dysplasia.

‘I consulted with my doctor and we jointly decided that a LEEP procedure would be in my best interest, in order to remove the high grade, abnormal, pre-cancerous cells…’

And in June of this year, Rimes made an embarrassing display when her dental bridge fell out in the middle of a performance at the Skagit Valley Casino & Resort in Bow, Washington.

When she was 16, Rimes opted to get dental veneers, but she needed a second dentist to fix them because the veneers were not bonded properly.

The ordeal resulted in the singer having to undergo multiple root canals and oral surgeries.

At the time, Rimes talked to her fans in an Instagram video about the shocking experience of having her teeth pop out.

‘So last night, I was on stage in the middle of One Way Ticket. I feel something pop in my mouth,’ she recalled. ‘And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front. It fell out in the middle of my song last night.’

Rimes quickly made her way to the side of the stage to put the bridge back into place.

‘I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage. And so, for the rest of the show, I was literally like this pushing my teeth in like every couple lines and singing,’ she explained.

Rimes added, ‘And you know, like I said, there wasn’t a thing I could do about it except either walk off or just hold my teeth in. So, I just ran with it.’

Along with following her passion for music, Rimes has also stepped back into her acting roots by taking on the role of Dixie Bennings in 9-1-1: Nashville.

The new installment in the 9-1-1 franchise is set to begin airing on ABC on October 9.

While speaking to Us Weekly, Rimes opened up about stepping back in front of the camera.

‘I get to let out a side of myself that doesn’t ever come out in real life, so it’s very healing in that way,’ she explained. ‘It was definitely a stretch for me.’
