Leonardo DiCaprio recently surprised fans with an unexpected revelation: he has never watched “Titanic,” the film that stands as one of the most significant highlights of his career. This iconic movie, released in 1997 and directed by James Cameron, not only catapulted DiCaprio to international fame but also raked in a staggering $2.264 billion worldwide from a $200 million budget. Moreover, it garnered 11 Academy Awards, further cementing its place in cinematic history.

Speaking with Jennifer Lawrence for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” the 51-year-old Oscar-winning actor candidly admitted, “No, I haven’t seen it.” The admission comes from the man who famously portrayed Jack Dawson, a struggling artist who falls in love aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic.

In response, Lawrence, herself a 35-year-old Oscar winner, encouraged DiCaprio to give the film a watch, noting, “Oh, you should. I bet you could watch it now, it’s so good!” Despite her suggestion, DiCaprio explained, “I don’t really watch my films,” shedding light on his personal approach to his body of work.

This disclosure sparked considerable buzz on social media, particularly on Variety’s X account, where fans expressed their astonishment. One user, @BorkorElse, encapsulated the widespread disbelief with a simple yet telling reaction: “Leo’s never seen Titanic!” accompanied by eye emojis.

‘I don’t really watch my films,’ the former child star said.

DiCaprio’s revelation made waves on Variety’s X account where user @BorkorElse commented with eye emojis and marveled: ‘Leo’s never seen Titanic!’

‘Leonardo DiCaprio admitting he’s never seen Titanic might be the most Actors on Actors moment ever,’ X user @TopuzLouis tweeted.

And X user @SLTreeJr wisecracked: ‘There’s no way Leonardo DiCaprio would watch Titanic, it’s now over 25 years old…’

Lawrence then grilled the habitual modelizer about the time over 50 members of the Titanic cast and crew – including director James Cameron and actor Bill Paxton – were poisoned with PCP-laced lobster chowder in 1996.

‘There was a conga line that formed and people were dancing. Well, and a lot people went to the hospital. Well, they thought that it was a neurotoxin from the chowder. Why did somebody dose everyone and why would they waste drugs?’ the Die My Love actress marveled.

DiCaprio replied that he ‘wasn’t there’ and neither was Kate Winslet since they didn’t film any scenes in Canada where Cameron shot the 1996-set scenes.

Lawrence and the Appian Way Productions founder famously headlined Netflix’s Don’t Look Up in 2021, and they’re reuniting for Martin Scorsese’s horror film What Happens at Night about an American couple adopting a European baby.
