At least six individuals were injured by gunfire on Monday, and the suspected shooter is down after an eruption of gunfire occurred inside a Midtown Manhattan office building. This building houses both the Blackstone investment company and the NFL’s headquarters.

Footage captured by a FOX 5 NY employee showed multiple officers carrying a person, while others seemed to be attending to someone on the ground. The news source, referencing law enforcement, reported the number of casualties.

The shooter, equipped with a rifle, began firing in the building’s lobby located on 52nd Street and Park Avenue. Afterward, he proceeded to another floor to continue shooting before moving to the 33rd floor, where he ultimately turned the gun on himself, as per sources informed by Fox News.

A security officer who works at the building was one of the people shot, sources said. During the shooting, people inside the building were hiding on different floors, the kitchen and bathrooms.

NYPD and Sheriff’s Department officers in protective gear were seen with guns drawn, Fox New York reported.

“New Yorkers: there is an active shooter investigation taking place in Midtown right now,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams wrote on X. “Please take proper safety precautions if you are in vicinity and do not go outside if you are near Park Avenue and East 51st Street.”

Officers were sweeping the building to see if a second shooter was present.

The city’s emergency notification system told followers to expect traffic and mass transit disruptions.
