A former Premier League striker has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36, after finishing his career with Ligue 1 Brest last season.

The forward played for four different Premier League sides during a five-year spell in England’s top flight but is probably most remembered for his time at Stamford Bridge.

At Chelsea the Frenchman won the Premier League and League Cup in 2015 and scored 12 goals in 47 appearances for the Blues.

Now, having finished his career back in France with Brest, Loic Remy has decided to call time on his football career.

Remy started his career at Lyon before making his name at Nice and then Marseille, where he scored a career high of 20 in the 2011-12 season in Ligue 1.

In the 2013 January transfer window, Remy signed for struggling QPR under Harry Redknapp after agreeing to sign for the club during a game of FIFA 12 with owner Tony Fernandes.

Despite scoring on his debut for the R’s and netting a goal of the season contender against Wigan, he couldn’t prevent the club’s relegation and joined Newcastle on a season-long loan the following campaign.

His 14 goals for the Magpies that season then prompted Chelsea to sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal in the summer of 2014 and he went on to win the Premier League title with Jose Mourinho’s side, along with a League Cup medal – although he was an unused sub in the victory over Tottenham.
