Authorities have shed light on the mysterious disappearance of Madonna’s costume from her Coachella performance, suggesting it might simply be misplaced rather than stolen.

Following her electrifying performance alongside headliner Sabrina Carpenter at the iconic festival in Indio, California, several vintage pieces from Madonna’s wardrobe, including a jacket, corset, and dress, went missing. At 67, the pop legend graced the stage with her timeless hits “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer,” as well as a new track, captivating the audience. However, the disappearance of her cherished attire has cast a shadow over the event.

‘I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing,’ Madonna, who has 56.2 million social media followers, wrote on an Instagram story on Monday.

Madonna expressed her sentiments about the lost items, emphasizing, “These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history. Other archival items from the same era went missing as well.” She has appealed to the public, hoping for their safe return. “I’m hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items and reach out to my team at infomaverick2026@gmail.com. I’m offering a reward for their safe return. Thank you with all my heart,” she added.

The Indio Police Department has weighed in, with a representative noting that the items may have inadvertently fallen off a golf cart during the festival, and there is no evidence to suggest they were deliberately stolen.

A police spokesperson informed TMZ, “On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at approximately 7:32 p.m., a missing property report was filed.” The investigation continues as fans and authorities alike hope for the recovery of Madonna’s invaluable attire.

The spokesman told TMZ on Monday: ‘On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at approximately 7.32pm, a missing property report was filed.’

Law enforcement specified that the items ‘were last seen on a golf cart at the Empire Polo Grounds on Saturday, April 18, 2026, shortly after 1.30am, during weekend two of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.’

Police also said that the two bags containing the items ‘may have fallen off a golf cart operated by staff who were on their way to load the bags onto a bus. Upon arriving at the hotel shortly thereafter, the staff realized the bags were missing.’

The spokesman added that there is ‘no evidence to suggest the bags were intentionally stolen.’

An itemized list of the missing costume pieces has now emerged, thanks to law enforcement sources revealing the information to TMZ.

Among them was the purple leather Gucci bomber jacket and matching knee-high boots that Madonna recycled from her 2005 MTV European Music Awards outfit.

Others included an approximately $25,000 lavender Moschino corset, lavender gloves, a slit-and-teddy combo, thigh-highs and a purple set of trunks.

The seven-time Grammy winner has a sizable glam squad – stylist Rita Melssen, hairstylist Matt Benns, make-up artist Marcelo Gutierrez and three fashion assistants – so it may seem surprising that her costumes were lost backstage.

Meanwhile, Madonna loved staging her ‘full-circle moment’ that harkened back to her 2006 Coachella performance in the Sahara Tent to promote her tenth studio album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.

‘Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella!’ the two-time Golden Globe winner gushed.

‘Thank you to Sabrina and everyone who made it possible. Bringing Confessions II back to where it began was such a thrill! A moment in history, I will never forget! I feel so free!’

The feeling was mutual for the 26-year-old Grammy winner, who thanked her Michigan-born mentor on Saturday for ‘coming out, bringing your love and gracing the audience with everything you are plus astrology knowledge plus the greatest songs of all time.’

‘Last night was straight out of a dream. Spending so much time laughing with you and then above all sharing the stage with you is a privilege I’ll never forget,’ Carpenter concluded.

Madonna – who drops Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II on July 3 – is lucky to be alive following her 2023 hospitalization for ‘a serious bacterial infection’ during which she was in a 48-hour medically induced coma.

On May 2, the twice-divorced mother-of-six will celebrate the 30th birthday of her toyboy Akeem Morris, who accompanied her to see DJ Anyma play the popular desert music festival.

Madonna and the Jamaican-born soccer coach have been together for nearly two years.

The Italian-American diva is rumored to be returning to acting after sharing a snap of herself reading a script in Venice on March 17 – at the same time Seth Rogen was filming the second season of his hit Apple TV+ series The Studio.

It is unclear whether Madonna is still teaming up with producer Shawn Levy on a Netflix limited series about her life and music, which was in early development last year.

The project was not related to the self-directed biopic Who’s That Girl, starring Julia Garner, which the two-time Golden Globe winner co-wrote with Erin Cressida Wilson after Universal Pictures shelved it.

Madonna previously helmed two dismally reviewed box-office bombs: Filth and Wisdom in 2008 and WE in 2011.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer – who averages 46.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify – is the world’s best-selling female recording artist and the most successful solo artist in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with 44 No 1 singles.
