RAMONA —
A 28-year-old man was seriously injured after his car went off the road and into a ditch in Ramona Thursday night, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash happened about 10:20 p.m. on Main Street east of Third Street.
The man was headed west in a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta when, for unknown reasons, his car veered off into the ditch, where it overturned, Officer Travis Garrow said.
The driver wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. He suffered major injuries and was taken in an air ambulance to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, said Garrow.
The crash remains under investigation. It is not believed alcohol or drugs were factors.
