A man was shot in the arm in a City Heights alley Saturday, San Diego police said.

The victim, 42, was in the alley off 42nd Street and Polk Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when he was confronted by a group of people, police said.

During an altercation one of the assailants pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the victim. He was struck once in the upper right arm.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.


The assailants fled in an SUV. Police did not provide a detailed description of the shooter or vehicle.
