Marc Anthony has finally addressed the recent controversy surrounding Brooklyn Beckham’s explosive claims, stating that the publicized family dispute does not reflect the reality of the situation.
The renowned Latin artist, aged 57, broke his silence nearly three weeks after 26-year-old Brooklyn Beckham released a detailed six-page Instagram post. In this post, Brooklyn dramatically announced his estrangement from his well-known parents, David Beckham, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51.
A key point in Brooklyn’s post was his accusation against his mother, Victoria, claiming she disrupted his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz at their 2022 wedding. Brooklyn alleged that Marc, who was performing at the event, invited him on stage, which led to Victoria’s inappropriate behavior during the dance.
Brooklyn expressed feeling deeply uncomfortable and humiliated by his mother’s actions, stating he had never experienced such embarrassment in his life.
On Monday, Marc Anthony, who shares a long-standing friendship with the Beckham family, commented on the situation. He described the ongoing feud as “extremely unfortunate” and emphasized that the narrative being shared publicly is far from the truth.
“I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family. They’re a wonderful, wonderful family,” Marc remarked. “I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz,” he added, mentioning Brooklyn’s younger brother, who is 20 years old.
Marc Anthony has finally broken his silence on Brooklyn Beckham’s bombshell statement, insisting the way the family feud has played out ‘is hardly the truth’
Marc spoke out after Brooklyn Beckham’s, 26, fiery Instagram statement in which he severed ties with his parents, David, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51; The trio seen in 2019
‘I’m really close to the family,’ he added to in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
‘But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out — but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.’
Shared across multiple Instagram stories, Brooklyn claimed his parents had been ‘trying to ruin’ his relationship with Nicola and controlling him ‘for most of my life’.
According to Brooklyn, Marc called him on stage during the wedding and then called for Victoria to come dance with him, stealing the moment that had been carefully planned for Brooklyn and Nicola.
Reports say the singer even invited ‘the most beautiful woman in the room tonight’ to join him, and it wasn’t the bride Nicola, but Posh Spice, leaving guests completely aghast.
Nicola was left devastated by the three-minute dance to a love song performed on stage by Marc, and left the room in tears.
Her family went after Nicola and Brooklyn looked humiliated and also went to find his new wife after the ‘awkward’ dance took place, said DJ Fat Tony who performed at the wedding.
Before Marc spoke out on the claims, Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding DJ Fat Tony placed the blame on the Latin singer.
Tony, a longtime friend of the Beckhams revealed Marc had called Victoria to the dance floor with her son and instructed him, ‘place your hands on your mother’s hips’.

Do YOU think Brooklyn is ‘lying’?
Brooklyn accused his mother of ‘hijacking’ his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz, 31, at their 2022 wedding, revealing how Anthony called him on stage only to announce Victoria as his dance partner; Nicola, Victoria and Brooklyn pictured in 2024
Anthony claimed that the way the situation is playing out is ‘hardly the truth’; Seen with David and Victoria in 2012
He explained: ‘There was no slut-dropping, there was no PVC cat suits, no Spice Girl action! The word “inappropriate”, why I said it was as well, it was the timing, this is what happened.’
‘What happened was, basically, Marc Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn onto stage.
‘Brooklyn went on to the stage, and the next minute everyone’s expecting Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then Marc asked for the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage – and then he says “Victoria, come to the stage”.’
He revealed that Brooklyn looked ‘devastated’ at the fact his first dance was with Victoria and not his wife, adding that Nicola left the room ‘crying her eyes out’.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the DJ said at one point Brooklyn’s hands were on his mother’s waist while her arms were placed around his neck.
‘The timing was inappropriate for me. It was meant to be a bride and groom’s moment,’ he told us. ‘It was in the heat of the moment. Brooklyn left right after the dance. Nicola left the room and afterwards he went after her.’
‘I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz,’ the singer explained, referring to Brooklyn’s younger brother, 20; Cruz and Anthony pictured in 2023
He went on: ‘Brooklyn is a friend of mine. The whole situation is just awful, the way it’s played out so publicly. Families are families, I don’t know what started it. At one point someone might say something publicly.’
He continued: ‘Brooklyn is upset about a lot of things, sometimes the smallest of things can become the biggest of things, because it highlights it.
‘I’m not speaking bad about either party in it, I’m just putting the narrative straight about the dance.’
From Eva Longoria and Elton John to members of the royal family, the Beckhams have a star-studded circle – and Marc is right in the mix.
He’s been a longtime friend of the family, with David and Victoria reportedly bonding over their love of his music.
The trio often show up for each other at events – like when David surprised Marc during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023.
David is also godfather to Marc’s son, Marquitos.
In his post, Brooklyn fired shots at his mother, claiming she danced ‘very inappropriately’ at his wedding.
‘My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,’ he wrote.
‘She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.
‘We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,’ he added, referencing the couple’s August 2025 vow renewal, three years after their original Palm Beach wedding in April 2022.
Brooklyn also claimed: ‘Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.’
‘They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,’ he continued.
‘My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.’
Nicola’s billionaire father Nelson has also broken his silence on the Beckham feud.
The business magnate, 83, spoke about the family drama when he did a Q and A at WSJD’s Invest Live in West Palm Beach event on Tuesday.
Nelson said: ‘My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story and that’s not for coverage here today. But I’ll tell you my daughter is great, my son-in-law Brooklyn is great and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.’
