Georgia mayor, wife arrested on Child Molestation & Cruelty to Children Charges

CLIMAX, Ga. () – Authorities have detained Joseph Kelly, 38, a resident of Climax, GA, on two charges of Child Molestation. His spouse, Natalie Kelly, aged 44, from the same area, faces two charges for second-degree Cruelty to Children.

On Saturday, May 31st, a request was made by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to step in and examine claims that Joseph Kelly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with several minors.

Both Joseph and Natalie Kelly were arrested later that same day by GBI agents and Decatur County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

They were booked into the Decatur County Jail.

Joseph Kelly, who holds the position of mayor in Climax, also works with the Decatur County School District. Current information suggests that these accusations do not appear to be connected to his professional responsibilities.

The GBI investigation is active & ongoing.

Once complete, it will be given to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
