EA is requiring employees to work in-office for three days each week under a hybrid arrangement, indicating a substantial decrease in remote job hires. CEO Andrew Wilson and EA Entertainment president and technology lead Laura Miele communicated this shift to staff, according to IGN, with confirmation of the updated hybrid model by corporate communications VP Justin Higgs to The Verge.
“We’ve implemented a consistent global hybrid work model to unite teams with clearer objectives and purpose, allowing for quicker decision-making, more precise execution, and stronger connections,” states Higgs. Hybrid positions will involve office attendance for “at least three days a week,” although there will be “flexibility” for other job roles.
Miele’s memo explains that EA offices will establish a 30-mile radius to decide whether an employee is categorized as on-site, hybrid, or remote, as reported by IGN. Here is Miele’s statement to IGN:
The “offsite local” work model is going to be sunset within 3 to 24 months. In addition, “any work model exception and future Remote hires will require a CEO Direct’s /my approval,” Miele’s email says, according to IGN.
