In a recent video, Meghan Markle has unveiled some personal moments from her family’s life in California, providing an uncommon look at her children, Archie and Lili.
Shared on Instagram over the past weekend, the footage captures the 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex, alongside Prince Harry and their kids, during an outing to Lane Farms in Santa Barbara. The clip also includes a cozy scene of them carving Halloween decorations at their home.
Typically, Meghan keeps her children’s faces hidden in photos, showing them from behind. However, this video gives followers a rare opportunity to see their features as they playfully roam around, while Prince Harry is busy with pumpkin carving.
The video also highlights Harry’s playful nature and includes appearances by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and her close friend Markus Anderson.
Markus, often playfully dubbed Meghan’s “second husband,” shares a longstanding and close relationship with her.
Recently, Markus has become a more frequent presence in Meghan’s life, joining her on trips to Disneyland and Paris Fashion Week. His latest appearance at the Sussexes’ Montecito estate solidifies his place within their close-knit circle.
Meghan herself looked casual in a pair of black skinny jeans for the pumpkin patch outing – however, her CO Leather boots and Anine Bing jacket cost more than $1,600.
Here are the most revealing details that fans might have missed in the Sussexes’ Halloween video.
Showing Archie and Lilibet’s faces
Princess Lilibet could be seen in the back of a video shared by Meghan of Harry carving a pumpkin
In a time-lapse, sped-up clip of Prince Harry carving a pumpkin, Meghan, Archie and Lili could be seen playing around in the background.
The footage captured a rare glimpse of Archie and Lili with their heads turned towards the camera.
Though the pictures were blurry, it is the first time a photo of Lili’s face has been shared publicly since 2022, when an official portrait was released for her birthday.
Archie’s face has not been shown in a photo since the Sussexes’ Christmas card in 2021.
However, a private picture of the siblings was seen in February this year in the background of an Architectural Digest interview with famous activist Gloria Steinem.
In the new clips, Lili was seen dressed in pink leggings and a matching top, while her older brother appeared to be wearing a smart black polo shirt and matching trousers.
One royal fan noted: ‘While Daddy was carving a pumpkin, the kids were playing around.’ Another exclaimed: ‘The video was so fast I didn’t even notice them!’
In recent months, Meghan has only shown the back of her children’s heads to maintain their privacy on social media.
The first official photograph of Lilibet was released as part of the Sussexes’ festive card in 2021 when she was already six months old
Lilibet is seen wearing a pale blue frock with a white bow in her reddish locks while she sat in the grass during her first birthday party in 2022
For example, their Christmas card last year revealed the first glimpse of them in years, but the image was kept blurry and the children did not face the camera.
However, since returning to Instagram at the start of the year, Meghan has started showing more and more of her children, for example, showing the top half of Lilibet’s face to mark her fourth birthday in June.
Prince Archie was previously seen in home videos shown in the couple’s Netflix documentary, released in 2022.
Never-before-seen images of the couple’s son featured throughout the first episodes, including a selfie Meghan took with her newborn and another black-and-white image of her reading Archie a story as he sits in her lap.
They also showed Archie’s first birthday celebrations, and audio footage of his sweet American accent.
However, the first official photograph of their daughter was released as part of the Sussexes’ festive card in 2021 when she was already six months old.
The next official snap of Lilibet was released to mark her first birthday in June 2022, and she was also seen as a baby in the Netflix documentary.
Lilibet was seen wearing a pale blue frock with a white bow in her reddish locks while she sat in the grass during her birthday party. But ever since, her face has been kept out of the public eye.
Harry and Meghan have been outspoken in their quest to tackle the harm caused by the internet, with the couple warning on World Mental Health Day of the impact of social media on young people.
Harry, speaking at a Project Healthy Minds event in New York City, claimed that the digital world has ‘fundamentally changed how we experience reality’.
In August last year, they launched The Parents’ Network, an initiative aiming to offer a ‘safe and supportive community [which] is available to all caregivers navigating the complex digital world’.
The couple have also called on social media companies to adopt better content moderation policies and tweak apps which can prove addictive to youngsters.
Speaking about the topic in their Netflix documentary, Meghan said: ‘We’ve been really conscious about protecting our kids as best we can and also understanding the role they play in this really historical family.’
Prince Harry’s cheeky moment while pumpkin carving
Prince Harry was seen showing his fun side as he carved a pumpkin in Meghan’s latest Instagram post
Meghan also shared a ‘blink-and-you’ll-miss-it’ glimpse at her husband’s fun side as he carved pumpkins.
Prince Harry showed off his carving skills in the time-lapsed video, using a cutter and pen to create three triangles for the eyes and nose, and a wonky mouth.
He then cut a hole in the bottom to empty out the insides and cleaned the outside, all while Archie and Lili watched on in amazement. In another clip, he used some of the excess pumpkin to create some sinister teeth.
As the video was sped up, royal fans almost missed the light-hearted glimpse at the Prince, shown for less than a second on camera.
Harry, who was known for his fun-loving ways before stepping down as a senior royal in 2020, was seen using the cut-out pumpkin mouth to pull a funny face.
Royal fans were left delighted at the clip, with one person writing: ‘Love it!’, while another joked: ‘He’s a menace.’
It’s likely the clip was included for Meghan’s amusement while watching it back.
Sweet throwback to their Netflix series
A clip of Prince Archie running (pictured) around a field of corn created a sweet parallel to Harry and Meghan’s 2022 Netflix documentary
In 2022, Archie, then three was seen in a sweet video of him running to Meghan’s arms in a corn field in the US
In Meghan’s video showing the family visiting a pumpkin patch near their California home, a grown-up Prince Archie, six, could be seen running through a corn field.
The sweet footage was almost identical to clips the family had filmed three years earlier for the Netflix documentary in 2022, showing a much younger Archie running in a corn field.
Archie, then three, had run around the field before reaching his mother’s arms, with Meghan lovingly scooping him up.
Royal fans were left delighted by the parallel, with many rushing to exclaim how much Archie had ‘grown’ – and how much he now resembles his father, Prince Harry.
One person gushed: ‘He’s such a big boy now!’
Others added: ‘Archie is literally a mini Harry down to the clothes’;
‘Look at how big our baby has grown’;
‘He’s close to being a young man. He’s going to be so tall just like Papa’;
‘Such a handsome young man!’
Cameos from Markus Anderson and Doria Ragland
Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, who lives close by to the Sussexes in California, is believed to have joined them for pumpkin carving
Joining Harry and Meghan for a spot of pumpkin carving at their Montecito mansion were two figures with their backs to the camera, believed to be the Duchess’s long-time friend Markus Anderson, and her mother Doria Ragland.
Soho House mogul Markus, who helped set Harry and Meghan up when they first met, carved a curved eyes and nose, which attracted the appreciation of Prince Archie, who came over for a closer look.
Meghan also posted the back of her mother, Doria, as she also joined in the carving effort at the table.
Doria lives nearby to the Sussexes in a two-bedroom bungalow in Los Angeles, and previously lived with them for a couple of months in 2020 after Archie was born. She reportedly has a ‘granny flat’ in their Montecito mansion.
The dedicated mother has been described as a ‘rock’ for Meghan and Harry during the difficult months when they departed as working royals and moved to California.
A former confidant of Doria told the Mail on Sunday: ‘She is like the Queen – she never complains and never explains.’
Doria even made a brief appearance in the first season of Meghan’s Netflix show – which was slammed by critics after making a return last week for a second series.
Harry previously described his future mother-in-law as ‘amazing’ in a BBC interview to coincide with his engagement.

Speculation rose last year that Markus Anderson had ‘vanished’ from Harry and Meghan’s inner circle, after he was not seen with them for several months – and did not appear in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, this year.
However, in recent months, Meghan has firmly shown their friendship to be back on, as Anderson is believed to have accompanied the family to Disneyland in June, and was by Meghan’s side for her trip to Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
Their closeness was emphasised once again over the weekend, as he joined the family for their intimate Halloween gathering.
In March, a friend of Anderson told the Mail that his bond with Meghan ‘may’ not be as tight as it once was.
This was put down to Anderson’s extremely busy professional life as an executive at Soho House, which means he travels ‘almost constantly.’
Anderson is widely credited with helping the couple’s romance flourish in its early days and has been by Meghan’s side for many years.
He was with her when she made her first public outing with Harry at the Invictus Games in 2017.
While Meghan and Harry are widely believed to have first met on a blind date in London set up by designer Misha Nonoo, it was in Canada – and more specifically at Markus’ Soho House – that their love blossomed.
He reportedly arranged for the couple to meet secretly in private rooms at the club, and helped them escape on romantic weekend getaways together.
The consultant has been dubbed as the ‘second most important man in her life.’
The Canadian-born businessman arranged Meghan’s low-key bachelorette weekend at Soho Farmhouse, in the Cotswolds.
On his birthday in August 2016, Meghan wrote in a celebratory post on Instagram: ‘What would I do without you, my loving, supportive, and endlessly fun friend? I know what… I would be bored, and life would be infinitely less interesting. I love you SO much.’
Meghan even referred to Markus as ‘uncle’ to her two dogs Guy and Bogart, and was photographed on a lavish vacation with him in Madrid in 2016.
Meghan’s outfit details

In the footage Meghan dons a pair of black knee-high boots and leggings with a black jacket while Harry opts for a casual look in jeans, a hoodie and a baseball cap. The pair can be seen holding hands
Meghan herself sported an outfit worth over $1,600 for the casual Halloween trip.
The Duchess was seen holding hands with Prince Harry and watching her children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, exploring a field of pumpkins near their home in California.
Despite the casual nature of the trip, Meghan made sure she looked stylish in a brown $400 Anine Bing ‘Luca’ padded jacket, worn recently during her Washington DC trip to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit.
The mother-of-two paired the sleek jacket with black skinny jeans and a pair of Co Leather black riding boots, which retail at $1,195, and tied her locks back in a low ponytail, completing her practical, laid-back ensemble.
Harry, meanwhile, also opted for a casual look in jeans, a hoodie and a baseball cap.
