Melania Trump exuded an air of mystery as she disembarked from Air Force One with President Donald Trump on Monday evening. The couple was returning to the White House after a long weekend in Palm Beach, Florida.
Sporting a pair of dramatically oversized black sunglasses, Melania made a fashion statement that caught the attention of onlookers. Although the First Lady, 55, is known for her chic accessory choice, the timing raised eyebrows as she wore them around 11 p.m. during the winter’s darkness.
Her ensemble was completed with a stylish gray wrap coat, sleek black leather gloves, and fashionable black lace-up boots, maintaining her reputation for elegance in any situation.
The President, 79, complemented his wife’s look with his own pair of black leather gloves, a classic black coat, and navy blue dress pants, presenting a united front as they stepped off the plane.
However, Melania’s nighttime eyewear sparked a wave of curiosity and critique across social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). Users were quick to question the practicality of wearing sunglasses in the absence of daylight, adding a layer of intrigue to the First Lady’s already enigmatic style.
The First Lady’s strange fashion choice drew criticism on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) as many people seemed to be confused about why she would wear sunglasses in the dead of night.
‘REALLY, SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT?’ one user wrote on X.
Another agreed, ‘She looks ridiculous with freakin’ sunglasses on at night. These two are something else.’

‘And the dark glasses at night are for what?’ shared one.
‘Why the sunglasses at night time????’ a commenter asked.
Melania’s White House arrival comes just weeks after her self-titled documentary premiered in theaters across the country.
The movie follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.
Amazon secured the film for $40 million – the largest documentary deal in history – after beating rivals Disney, Netflix and Paramount in a ferocious bidding war.
The movie showed the behind-the-scenes of these high-stakes days, taking viewers through her fittings with designers Adam Lippes and Herve Pierre, who created her outfits for the inauguration events, as well as meetings with her interior designer, Tham Kannalikham, who was tasked with furnishing the space for the family’s return to The White House.

The film also shared that Melania’s love for 19-year-old son Barron Trump is unrivaled – as she also hinted at his most positive personality trait.
The New York University student was not shown heavily in the film, only a few moments during inauguration day, but the First Lady spoke extremely highly of him throughout.
In one scene, as she and Donald Trump are sitting in the car together, they spoke about Barron, who the President says that he has ‘cute conversations’ with.
‘I love him,’ Melania says, as she adds that her son is an ‘incredible mind.’
Of course, after Trump was elected, it was revealed that the teen had a big part in his father’s campaign, especially when it came to recommending podcasts and YouTube shows for him to appear on.
During the film, she also briefly shares that Barron is ‘very confident’ and that she wants him to live his own life and carve his own path.
However, Barron is the only child that’s spoken about during the movie.
Melania does not say a word about her four stepchildren – Don. Jr, 48, Ivanka, 44, Eric, 42, or Tiffany, 32, during the 90-minute spectacle.
Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, were also missing from the documentary’s premiere at the Kennedy Center. Tiffany Trump did not appear to attend, either.
