Mike Myers hints that a fourth Austin Powers movie may be coming: ‘I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project’

With the 20th anniversary of the third Austin Powers movie – 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember – coming in July, star Mike Myers hinted that a fourth movie may be coming soon.

The 58-year-old actor was speaking with Jess Cagle on his Sirius XM show on Thursday, promoting his new Netflix series The Pentaverate, when he was asked about the possibility of Austin Powers 4.

While Myers has hinted at a fourth movie for nearly two decades, it seems like he may be closer than ever to making it happen.

When asked about a fourth Austin Powers movie, Myers stated, ‘I would love to do one. I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project, should it exist or not exist.’

‘You know… we’re… you know,’ Myers said, as Cagle’s co-host Julia Cunningham added, ‘It feels like yes. I’m sorry. It feels like you wanna say yes.’

Cagle also teased that, ‘it felt like a confirmation that it’s gonna be announced,’ though Myers kept up the ruse.

‘It was a non-confirmed confirmation confirmation,’ Myers added of the potential sequel.

Myers created the Austin Powers character as a tribute to his father, who passed away in 1991, and who had introduced him to James Bond and Peter Sellers.

He both wrote the script and starred in 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, which was a surprise modest hit with critics and fans, earning $67 million worldwide from just a $13 million budget.

The 1999 follow-up Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me was a smash hit with $312 million worldwide from a $33 million budget, as was the third film Goldmember ($296 million worldwide from a $63 million budget).

He did return as Dr. Evil in a General Motors Super Bowl ad in February, reuniting with franchise stars Seth Green, Rob Lowe and Mindy Sterling.

This isn’t the first time Myers has hinted at another sequel, stating way back in 2005, ‘There is hope! We’re all circling and talking to each other,’ and in 2007 he added, ‘, there is a fully conceived idea for a fourth and I can just say that it’s from Dr. Evil’s point of view.’

Jay Roach, who directed all three films – 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, 1999’s Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember – had been said to return to direct in 2008.

Myers and Roach would often discuss the possibility of a fourth Austin Powers movie in interviews for their other films, with Myers stating in 2018 that the script was already written.

Most recently, Myers made similar comments in February on The Today Show, stating he could not, ‘neither confirm nor deny’ that a sequel is happening.
