President Donald Trump has released a statement concerning the tragic shooting of a woman by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. “I have just seen the footage of the incident that occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota,” the statement began. “It is a terrible thing to witness.” Trump went on to describe the woman who was screaming as “obviously a professional agitator,” while characterizing the woman driving the vehicle as disorderly and obstructive. He stated that she “violently, willfully, and viciously” ran over the ICE officer, who appeared to have acted in self-defense.
The shocking event has rapidly gained attention on social media, with videos of the incident going viral. One particularly striking clip shows several ICE agents approaching a burgundy Honda Pilot, instructing the driver to exit the vehicle. Instead of complying, the driver reverses before driving forward, directly toward an agent standing in front of the car. In response, the agent draws his weapon and fires three shots at the defiant driver.
The vehicle is then seen crashing into a parked car further down the street. President Trump shared a video of the shooting on his Truth Social platform. He remarked on the condition of the ICE agent, stating, “Based on the video, it is difficult to believe he survived, but he is now recovering in the hospital.” Trump concluded by expressing his view that such incidents occur because “the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents daily.” The situation is currently under thorough investigation.
‘They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!’ ICE has claimed that the woman driving the vehicle intentionally sped forward, trying to injure the officer. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has said that the agents’ claim of acting in self-defense is ‘[expletive]’
Minneapolis Mayor Responds
Frey blasted ICE’s characterization of the shooting and told them to ‘get the [expletive] out of Minneapolis.’ ‘They are already trying to spin this as an act of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is [expletive].’ A video shared online captured a witness speaking to a woman who claimed she was the driver’s wife and they had a six-year-old child. ‘That’s my wife, I don’t know what to do,’ she wailed hysterically.
The man filming the video asked if she was with the woman who was killed, and if she had any friends who could help. ‘That’s my wife… [unintelligible]… I have a six-year-old at school… we’re new here, we don’t have anyone,’ she replied. The woman has not been identified by officials, but they described her as a 37-year-old white woman. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin called the driver’s actions ‘act of domestic terrorism’ after she ‘weaponized her vehicle’ against the federal agents.
Chaos Breaks Out in Minneapolis Following Shooting
Chaos has broken out on some of the streets in Minneapolis since the shooting, and videos show protestors marching in the streets and hurling snowballs and other objects at police as they try to contain the situation. Governor Tim Walz said he has warned the Minnesota National Guard to prepare for deployment to Minneapolis. ‘We have soldiers in training and prepared to be deployed if necessary,’ he said. ‘They are teachers in your community, they’re business owners, they’re construction professionals, they are Minnesotans. ‘Minnesota will not allow our community to be used as a prop in a national political fight. We will not take the bait.’
