FOX Sports analyst and retired US women’s national team forward Carli Lloyd spoke about her job as a commentator and said that she should be ’embraced’ in her role.

Lloyd has come under fire for her pointed criticisms of the USWNT and her stance on players attitudes and behaviors in the past.

Appearing on Kevin Hart’s show ‘Cold As Balls’, Lloyd said that there should be room for more opinions in women’s sports like hers.

‘For women’s sports – and women’s soccer in general – we need to get to a place where we can critique, where we can offer more opinions.

‘Because I listen to these guys, [NBA] commentators [like] Shaq, Barkley.. they’re hilarious. They’ve experienced it, they get it, they see things, they offer their opinion.

‘I get so much flack because I’m speaking truth and honesty and stuff that I’ve experienced and I’ve seen which should be embraced.’

Lloyd has been very vocal in her criticisms of the USWNT – especially when it comes to certain players, like former teammate Megan Rapinoe.

Her comments have been criticized by many in the American women’s soccer community – especially after it was revealed that the USA was the most harrassed team online during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Lloyd retired from soccer in 2021 having scored 134 goals in 316 matches for the USWNT in a career that began in 2005.
