The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office issued an active shooter alert, advising residents to remain indoors.

People were evacuated from the Fernan Gun Club and told there was a sniper in the area.

Reports show police cars lining a road and armed officers stalking the area.

Fire crews say the fire remains active.

People on social media reported the fire had been set deliberately to draw in the emergency workers.

Law enforcement agencies from neighboring Spokane were drafted in to provide assistance.

An air ambulance attended to provide urgent care to the injured.

Two police choppers also flew in to help search for the gunman.

Exact casualty numbers are not yet available as the investigation into the ambush gets underway.
