Who are the astronauts on Artemis II?
Aboard the upcoming Artemis II mission, a distinguished team of astronauts will embark on an extraordinary journey. This crew includes Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, each bringing unique expertise and experience to the mission.
Leading the mission as commander is Reid Wiseman, a retired Navy captain with roots in Baltimore, Maryland. At 50, Wiseman carries a wealth of experience and will guide the team through this pivotal space endeavor.
Victor Glover, aged 49, is another esteemed member of the team. As one of NASA’s few Black astronauts, Glover hails from Pomona, California. His impressive background as a Navy captain and former combat pilot underscores the depth of skill he brings to the mission.
Christina Koch joins the team as an accomplished electrical engineer from Jacksonville, North Carolina. At 47, she already holds the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, having spent 328 days in space. Koch also made history with the first all-female spacewalk during her record-setting stint at the space station in 2019.
Rounding out the crew is Jeremy Hansen, an astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency. At 50, Hansen will be making his first venture into space, marking a significant milestone as Canada’s first representative to the moon. His background as a fighter pilot and physicist adds a rich dimension to the mission’s international collaboration.
