Newark, DE — At around 11:58 p.m. on March 28, Newark Police Department officers were called to a vehicle accident on the 100 block of Madison Drive. They found that a moving vehicle had collided with four parked cars that were unattended at the time.

The driver involved in the accident was identified by police as 54-year-old Dwendolyn Creecy from Newark. Creecy, who is a member of the Newark City Council serving as the District 4 Councilwoman, was present at the scene when the officers arrived.
Police investigations revealed that Creecy was under the influence during the incident. She was apprehended and taken to Newark Police Headquarters for further processing. The vehicle she was driving was rendered non-functional due to the crash and had to be towed away from the location.

Creecy has been charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, and Failure to Remain Within a Single Lane. She was issued all required documentation for upcoming court proceedings and subsequently released to her residence.
No injuries were reported in the crash. Newark Police have not released further information regarding the investigation.
