Patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were called to investigate a potential human bone discovered in a resident’s backyard on Cordele Road in Red Mill Farms on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Suspecting it to be human remains, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit took over the case and initiated an investigation. Since the incident, detectives have been combing the area for any other possible remains while anthropologists have been collaborating with the Medical Examiner’s office to identify the discovered bone.

The New Castle County Public Works Department has responded to assist with cutting back the terrain and utilizing sewer cameras to continue the search.
