New York City FC have released the latest renderings from the club’s massive stadium project in Flushing Meadows – including the massive entranceway to the ground.

Nicknamed ‘The Cube’, the club describes the entrance as ‘an immersive, seven story front door to New York City’s first-ever soccer-specific stadium’.

‘The Cube’ appears to be made out of concrete on the outside – with the club’s logo etched into the exterior.

On the inside is a video board encompassing three sides of the square structure.

It’s the latest development in the plans for a stadium that is expected to be finished by 2027.

The facility will be built right across the street from Citi Field – home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.

It’ll also be located adjacent to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center – the home of the US Open tennis tournament.

Plans for this stadium were announced in November of 2022 – with the cost estimated then to be around $780million and part of a larger re-development of the Flushing Meadows area.

The entire project will be funded by the club’s owners, the City Football Group.

While a major step forward for the club, the stadium is set to open more than 14 years after the team was founded.

In that time, they’ve essentially been second tenants at a baseball field – Yankee Stadium.

Scheduling conflicts with the Yankees in the past have seen them play home games in different locations across the New York area – including Citi Field, Belson Stadium on the campus of St. Johns University, Coffey Field on the campus of Fordham University, and Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Additionally, they’ve had to play home games at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles – as well as Pratt & Whitney Field, a college football stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut.
