In a recent development from Chicago, three individuals have been charged in connection with a train burglary that took place in Englewood earlier this month, as confirmed by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded with the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Community Safety Team collaborating alongside Norfolk Southern Railroad. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on December 19, a drone captured footage of two individuals atop a moving freight train near the intersection of 60th Place and Stewart Avenue.

According to the sheriff’s office, the drone footage revealed these individuals breaking into a shipping container, tossing packages to the ground, and subsequently leaping into a nearby alley.

Law enforcement successfully apprehended two suspects, identified as 25-year-old Shaun Smythe and 26-year-old Marcus Moore, in the vicinity of the 300-block of West 60th Place.

The third suspect, 44-year-old Errol Miller, attempted to escape in a minivan but was eventually captured in the 100-block of West 87th Street.

All three men now face charges of burglary, while Miller has also been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

Both Miller and Moore were on pre-trial release for burglary charges at the time of their arrest, the sheriff’s office said.

Smythe was granted pre-trial release on December 20 after an appearance in court.

Moore and Miller were also granted pre-trial release on December 20, but both are in custody for violating pre-trial release terms from their other cases, the sheriff’s office said.
