Two offenders allegedly armed with a gun and a machete forced their way into a home in Melbourne’s south-east overnight.

The alleged violent home invasion occurred about 2.15am in Cranbourne East today, prompting emergency services to attend the Scotsdale Drive property.

Police allege at least two offenders carrying weapons stormed the property in an aggravated burglary, fleeing the scene before police arrived.

A man in his 20s was rushed to The Alfred hospital in a serious, but stable condition with upper-body injuries.

A woman in her 40s was taken to Casey Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
