Alleged killer cop Beau Lamarre-Condon will plead not guilty

Beau Lamarre-Condon will plead not guilty to the two alleged shooting murders of his ex-boyfriend and his new lover in February last year.

Lamarre-Condon’s lawyer, Ben Archbold, told a Sydney court on Tuesday that his client will enter not guilty pleas to all charges.

He is additionally facing charges of aggravated break and enter with the intention to commit an indictable offense concerning the suspected murders of TV host Jesse Baird and flight attendant Luke Davies.

Wearing prison greens, Lamarre-Condon, 30, looked tense and stared intently at the screen from within Long Bay’s Special Purpose Centre prison when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis via video link.

He blinked, swallowed and answered the magistrate’s questions in a clear voice.

Asked if he could see and hear the court clearly, he said ‘yes’.

Lamarre-Condon was then asked if he had any questions about his pleas.

‘No Your Honour,’ he replied.

Lamarre-Condon’s mother, Coleen Lamarre, was among those in the packed court room on Tuesday.

Ms Lamarre earlier arrived at court flanked by supporters and her son’s legal team.

Lamarre-Condon will be represented by eminent Sydney barrister John Stratton SC to fight the charges at trial in the NSW Supreme Court.

He will arraigned on October 3.

Lamarre-Condon is charged with the murders of television presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and his Qantas flight attendant boyfriend Luke Davies, 29, at Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in February 2024.

Then a serving member of the NSW Police since joining in 2017, Lamarre-Condon is accused of bundling Mr Davies and Mr Baird’s bodies into surfboard bags and dumping them about 180km south-west of Sydney.

Police located Mr Davies and Mr Baird’s remains in the NSW Southern Tablelands on February 27 last year, eight days after Lamarre-Condon allegedly shot them dead with his Glock service pistol.

A day before the bodies were found, Deputy Commissioner Dave Hudson revealed an alleged timeline of events leading up to and following the men’s deaths.

Mr Hudson said gunshots were heard coming from Mr Baird’s rented terrace house on the morning of February 19.

Later that evening, Lamarre-Condon allegedly hired a Toyota HiAce van from Sydney Airport and on February 21, drove the vehicle to a property near the tiny town of Bungonia with a female companion.

Lamarre-Condon allegedly left the property about 4.30am and drove to Newcastle, where he asked a former policewoman if he could borrow a hose to clean the van.

Neither woman is accused of any wrongdoing, and the female ex-cop spoke to police when her suspicions were raised.

About 10.30am the next day, February 23, Lamarre-Condon walked into Bondi police station and was arrested.

The bodies of Mr Davies and Mr Baird were found at Bungonia on February 27, several hours after detectives spoke with Lamarre-Condon in the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre in Silverwater.

Lamarre-Condon has spent the last year-and-a-half behind bars over the shootings, which were allegedly the result of a months-long campaign of ‘predatory behaviour’ targeting Mr Baird.

A former celebrity chaser, Lamarre-Condon reportedly briefly dated Mr Baird before the Studio Ten and Totally Wild presenter began a relationship with Mr Davies just weeks before their deaths.

Lamarre-Condon, who was sacked from the police force in March last year, is also charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Before becoming a police officer, Lamarre-Condon ran a celebrity blog, posing in photos with dozens of visiting celebrities including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles and Katy Perry.
