A Yankees fan made what instantly became a Catch of the Year contender on Saturday.

As the Yankees hosted the Rays, a Yankees fan, glove in hand, was ready for a foul ball heading his way. However, his daughter, perched atop his shoulders, introduced an unexpected twist to the catch.

As the foul ball came closer, the smiling daughter covered her dad’s eyes with her hands.

Still, he was able to make the grab with his glove, pulling it into his chest to secure the ball and raising his hands in triumph.

“That’s dad power right there,” Yankees broadcaster Jeff Nelson said as the highlight played on YES Network.

He then gave the ball to his daughter.

The Yankees ultimately suffered a 3-2 defeat against the Rays on Saturday and faced an injury concern with Anthony Volpe, who will miss Sunday’s series finale.

The Yankees lost an early lead that included Aaron Judge’s 11th home run of the season.

The Rays, playing at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa due to Hurricane damage at Tropicana Field, snapped their four-game losing streak with a decisive two-run inning in the eighth that put them ahead.

The Rays took an early 2-0 lead in Sunday’s rubber game.
