Political commentator Bill O’Reilly asserts that although Elon Musk has been quite effective as an agent of political change, his actions are becoming an unnecessary diversion for the Trump administration.
O’Reilly shared his views on ‘s “CUOMO” on Wednesday, stating, “He did a commendable job revealing government inefficiencies, but now it’s time for the experts to step in. I believe he’ll continue advising Trump, yet I anticipate he’ll rejoin the private sector.”
Musk has held a prominent role in Donald Trump’s administration, acting as the visible leader of the Department of Government Efficiency. Additionally, he has invested a significant amount of his own resources in supporting Brad Schimel, a Republican-endorsed candidate, in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election held on Tuesday.
Schimel ultimately lost the race to Susan Crawford, the Democratic Party-backed candidate, while many of DOGE’s initiatives to cut back on government spending have been challenged in court and remain in limbo.
Both Schimel’s defeat and DOGE’s stalled momentum have brought increased scrutiny to Musk’s role in Washington and the GOP at large.
While O’Reilly doesn’t blame Musk for the GOP’s loss in Wisconsin, he agreed with the idea that Musk has overstayed his welcome in Washington.
“As I said very early on, Musk is a short-timer,” O’Reilly said. “It’s just too hot. You just can’t have a guy that hot.”
