Owen Wilson was recently seen enthusiastically supporting his two sons at a soccer game in Los Angeles, even as rumors persist about his distant relationship with his daughter.

The actor, known for his role in “Wedding Crashers,” appeared to be in high spirits while attending the match with his sons, Ford, 14, and Finn, 11. The trio sported matching jerseys, cheering on the Los Angeles Football Club in their match against Austin FC this past Wednesday.

Wilson shares his eldest son, Robert Ford—often just called Ford—with his former girlfriend, Jade Duell. His younger son, Finn, is from a previous relationship with Caroline Lindqvist, a personal trainer.

In contrast, his daughter, Lyla, was born in 2018 to ex-partner Varunie Vongsvirates. Reports from 2019 revealed that Vongsvirates had pleaded with Wilson to be involved in their daughter’s life, noting that he has had no involvement and has never met Lyla.

Wilson’s representatives have yet to respond to requests for comment regarding these claims.

Daily Mail has not received a response to its request for comment from Wilson’s reps. 

While the reason for Wilson’s distance from Lyla remains unclear, he appeared focused solely on father-son bonding during the game — laughing, cheering, and blending right in with the other parents on the sidelines.

The outing wasn’t the first time Wilson has taken his sons to an LAFC game — the trio was previously spotted cheering them on in July 2024. 

Though Wilson keeps his family life mostly out of the spotlight, he opened up about bonding with his sons earlier this year — this time over golf.

‘I’m trying, it’s hard sometimes with kids because it’s like me, as a kid, you want to play soccer or football and stuff. Golf does not come easily,’ Wilson told People in May, admitting he’s been sneaking in lessons through casual trips to Topgolf.

‘What’s been kind of nice is going to Topgolf with them, and they love Topgolf. And so that’s the way I’m kind of sneaking them into sort of learning a swing,’ he explained.

Wilson proudly noted that both of his sons are finding their footing in the sport.

‘Ford really does have a good swing. And then Finn, his grandfather was actually apparently the town champion in Sweden where he lives, so he’s got it in him,’ he said.

‘So I would hope that would be a great thing if one day we’re all in Ireland together playing golf.’

Then in June, Wilson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and shared a more playful update about Finn — who’s already exploring some unconventional career ideas.

‘My youngest, first he wanted to be a DJ, and then he said he wanted to open a prank shop. He even had the name of the prank shop: Wilson’s Wizzbangs. You know, he had the gun where you grab it and it could give you a little shock,’ the actor recalled.

In a 2021 interview with Esquire, he revealed how much he loved to be a storyteller to his two sons.

‘Sometimes telling the stories at night, you do take a little pride that these guys are into this story!’ he said. ‘One of them even said, ‘Dad, you should do something with this. This is a really good story!’’

And during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote his 2017 film Cars 3, Owen also discussed parenting his first two children.

The proud father talked lovingly about how much little Finn idolizes his older brother.

‘It’s unbelievable. I mean, anything Ford says is just, like, the funniest thing ever, and I can make and joke and it’s, like, crickets. It’s like nothing from those guys.’

Owen said that ‘I’m already sort of seeing how they’re gonna be as teenagers, where they’re gonna be sort of be ganging up on me.’

While he appears to be fully invested in Ford and Finn’s lives, the actor has been criticized for appearing to be absent from Lyla’s own life.

In 2018, a source told Us Weekly that Wilson ‘refuses to meet his daughter’ and ‘he even checked the no visitation box in court in June … he does not want to visit [and does not] want any custody of her.’

Lyla was also described as being the spitting image of her father.

‘The baby looks just like Owen,’ said the source.

As for Vongsvirates, her last Instagram post was on October 9, 2022, celebrating Lyla’s birthday.

The mom and daughter duo posed sweetly at an autumn-themed celebration with cake, pumpkin, and friends.

When she spoke with The Daily Mail in 2019, Vongsvirates said Wilson ‘helps financially but it’s never been about that.’

Questioned about this, she added: ‘Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he’s playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter.’ 

Asked if she had a message for her ex, Varunie said at the time: ‘You should see your daughter, she’s incredible, you’re really missing out. She looks just like you.’

Wilson and Vongsvirates were romantically linked on and off for about five years before going their separate ways. 

In 2018, a paternity test later confirmed that Wilson was indeed Lyla’s biological father.
