It’s official: Jameis Winston is stepping into the spotlight.

The Giants are naming Jameis Winston their starting quarterback for Sunday’s home game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.

On Wednesday morning, The Daily News broke the story on ‘X’ revealing Winston’s promotion, marking a significant shift in the New York Giants’ quarterback lineup.

With rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart sidelined due to concussion protocol, newly appointed interim head coach Mike Kafka faced a crucial decision: should he start Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston for the Giants’ upcoming game, as they hold a 2-8 record this season?

Until now, Winston has been serving as the Giants’ inactive third-string quarterback. Wilson, who started the first three games, has since taken on the role of backup quarterback.

However, Wilson’s underwhelming performance in last Sunday’s game against Chicago left Kafka with little choice but to reevaluate the pecking order.

Despite being signed as free agents alongside Wilson in March, Winston was not initially given an opportunity to compete for the starting position during the offseason.

But now he gets his shot to inject some life and victories into the back half of another lost Giants season.

Both Kafka and Winston are scheduled to speak to the media early Wednesday afternoon.

Developing story, check back for updates.
