Beyoncé to co-chair Met Gala after decade away from fashion’s biggest night

Beyoncé is set to make a spectacular return to the Met Gala in 2026, taking on the role of co-chair after a ten-year hiatus from the renowned fashion event.

The 44-year-old superstar, who has claimed 35 Grammy Awards, will join forces with Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, according to Vogue. This year’s gala theme, “Costume Art,” will highlight the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibition. Notably, it also marks the first Met Gala overseen by Wintour since she stepped down as the editor-in-chief of Vogue earlier this year.

Renowned Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz will lead the illustrious Host Committee, which also counts newly appointed Vogue.com editor Chloe Malle among its members. The committee is composed of a diverse array of figures from the spheres of arts and sports.

The musical talent for the event will include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, and Grammy nominee Teyana Taylor, who is currently generating Oscar buzz for her performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s anticipated Best Picture contender, “One Battle After Another.”

Additional committee members feature ballet sensation Misty Copeland and WNBA star A’ja Wilson, alongside television personalities Gwendoline Christie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Lena Dunham. Models such as Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser, Lauren Wasser, and Yseult, who also pursues a career in music, will be involved, as well as artist Anna Weyant.

Chloe Malle, who embraces her status as a “proud ‘nepo baby’,” is the 40-year-old daughter of Oscar-nominated actress Candice Bergen, known for her role as fictional Vogue editor Enid Frick on “Sex and the City.” Malle assumed her role as Vogue’s Head of Editorial Content in September, stepping into a highly coveted position within the magazine.

But it’s Queen Bey’s return to the Manhattan event, for the first time since 2016’s “Manus x Machina”-themed night, that’s most highly anticipated.

Beyoncé, who last wore Givenchy Haute Couture to the Met Gala, is coming off a megawatt run. In February, her country album, “Cowboy Carter” — which channels the superstar’s Houston upbringing — finally won the Destiny’s Child alum, who already holds more Grammys than any other musician, the award for Album of the Year.

The “Cowboy Carter” tour made history as the biggest country tour in Billboard Boxscore history upon taking its final bow in late July.
