Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Vince Velasquez followed a disastrous performance in Boston on Friday by getting into a verbal altercation with a fan who told him to ‘learn to pitch.’
‘I want to see your fat a** go and do it,’ Velasquez is seen telling an unidentified fan in video footage that was shared on Twitter by Phillies blogger Matt Rappa.
The incident took place outside Boston’s Fenway Park after the 29-year-old Californian surrendered four walks, three home runs, and a season-worst eight runs in an 11-5 loss to the Red Sox. Spokespeople for the Phillies did not immediately respond to DalyMail.com’s request for comment.

Vince Velasquez was roughed up in Boston on Friday, giving up a season-high eight runs
The first of the two videos begins with Velasquez walking onto the team bus while carrying a backpack over his white sweater. The footage is shot from the perspective of a group of spectators, who are standing off screen as they wait for Phillies players to exit Fenway Park and step onto the team bus.
Although he was wearing headphones, Velasquez apparently heard the ‘learn to pitch’ comment in the first of the two videos.
In the second video, Velasquez approached the fans without his headphones or backpack.
‘Huh?’ Velasquez said with his arms outstretched and his palms facing the crowd, which stood just off screen.
The response from the crowd isn’t quite audible, but Velasquez snapped back: ‘Exactly, shut up. I want to see your fat a** go do it.’
A woman in the crowd immediately agreed with Velasquez.
‘That’s what I said to him,’ she said.
Before finally stepping onto the bus, Velasquez noticed spectators were recording him on their phones.
‘You guys are recording?’ he asked. ‘Oh that’s so nice.’
Velasquez has struggled in 2021 posting a 5.57 earned-run average, which is nearly an entire run over his career mark.
