The Ohio State Highway patrol says the plane went down in a farm field in Mill Township. The aircraft’s only occupant was killed.
UHRICHSVILLE, Ohio — One person is dead following a plane crash in Tuscarawas County late Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Officials say the 1973 Cessna 310Q fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft went down in a Mill Township farm field close to Uhrichsville not long after 5 p.m., just under 30 minutes after taking off from Harry Clever Field airport near New Philadelphia. The plane’s only occupant, who has not been identified, was killed.
The plane was engulfed in flames, and members of the New Philadelphia and Warwick Township fire departments were called in to assist. Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s deputies were also on scene.
Per the OSHP, both the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been notified and will conduct their own investigation.
