Hamptons officers criticized Alec Baldwin after the star claimed he wasn’t at fault for crashing his Range Rover. Recent footage seems to contradict Baldwin’s account of the incident.
The 67-year-old Beetlejuice actor stated he collided with a tree in East Hampton on Monday while driving his wife Hilaria’s white SUV. According to him, a National Waste Services truck suddenly moved into his lane, forcing him off the road.
But new footage first obtained by Newsmax Tuesday shot from inside the truck showed it exiting a junction unimpeded.
Baldwin’s car then appeared to the right hand side of the vehicle, shot off the road which had no emergency lane and smashed into a tree.
The Range Rover only appeared in shot well after the truck had completed the disputed maneuver.
However, Newsmax reported no evidence indicating that the truck had pushed Baldwin out of his lane or that there was any obstruction that necessitated his evasive action.
An East Hampton Police Department spokesman said: ‘This video is not from our department.
‘Our report stands as accurate and nothing Mr Baldwin has stated publicly since impacted the responding officer’s report.’
Detectives found evidence of ‘no criminality’ and told the Daily Mail that ‘there is nothing further for our department to investigate.’

Alec Baldwin was involved in a car crash in East Hampton, New York, on Monday with his brother Stephen. The actor’s white Range Rover left the road and eventually hit a tree.

The accident occurred shortly on State Route 27 at approximately 12:01pm (pictured: The Baldwin brothers assess damage after the incident)
Police noted that factors responsible for the incident included ‘driver reaction to other uninvolved vehicles’ and ‘slippery and wet road conditions.’
The footage showed heavy rainfall on the road as a heavy Nor’easter barreled through the East Coast over the weekend.
Local resident Vanessa Gordon informed the Daily Mail that the road section where the crash took place is well-known in the area for frequent vehicle accidents.
‘I wish I had a dollar for the amount of times I’ve seen people on their cell phones distracted, especially driving out there and on the back road. We joke that was like a sport, but it’s become quite serious out there,’ she said.
‘So unfortunately it would not surprise me if he was distracted, which is, it’s such a shame if that’s what it was. But thankfully no one was hurt.’
Baldwin, who accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his western movie Rust in 2021, said he ‘felt bad’ for ruining his wife’s car in the accident, but was grateful that he and his brother Stephen walked away unharmed.
The actor also thanked the East Hampton Police Department for responding to the crash quickly, and singled out officer Ian Gerken as a ‘lovely guy.’
‘Thank you to the East Hampton Police Department, the town police department, for coming to my aid,’ he said.
‘As nice as can be, as pleasant as can be about the whole thing.’

Baldwin’s brother Stephen, who is the father of Hailey Bieber, remained at the crash site

Long Island cops said that ‘nothing Alec Baldwin stated publicly since impacted the responding officer’s report’ about the crash, after the star, 67, claimed that he drove head-first into a tree because the driver of a National Waste Services truck swerved into him
Baldwin is a well-known resident in the New York enclave, and Gordon told the Daily Mail that Hamptons locals were not entirely surprised to hear he had been in another accident over the weekend.
‘It’s like, ‘What did he do? What happened this time?” she said. ‘He stayed very quiet though in recent last few years or so. He doesn’t emerge that often. He used to be quite a fixture out here. He has definitely quieted down.’
Baldwin said he was making a quick getaway from New York following the crash, and ‘couldn’t wait’ to get to Los Angeles to see Hilaria, 41, and the couple’s seven children.
‘Going out to California to gather my family together, spend a few days out there and then come home,’ he said.
The accident unfolded after Alec and his brother Stephen attended the Hamptons International Film Festival, where they promoted their podcast, ‘One Bad Movie.’

The accident happened on the Montauk Highway in treacherous weather conditions as a powerful Nor’easter pummeled Long Island, causing major flooding
Stephen added in a statement that he was ‘grateful no one was injured’, and said he is ‘doing fine’ after the crash.
‘He’s relieved that this was just an accident with no serious injuries,’ his representative said, and noted that both brothers ‘are taking time to rest.’
Hilaria Baldwin also posted a video to Instagram in which she reassured fans that her famous husband and brother-in-law were unharmed and thanked well-wishers for their concern.
‘Thank you for caring,’ she said while sitting in a vehicle and smiling into the camera.
