Police are searching for a North Queensland man caught driving dangerously in a stolen car.

The man was captured on dashcam footage swerving through traffic and driving on the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing another driver at Hervey’s Range, just outside of Townsville.

Police said the man was driving a Navy Toyota Landcruiser with the number plates 827WXI.

The vehicle was stolen between 7.30am and 8.30am this morning from a property at Hervey’s Range.

Police confirmed it had been seen driving dangerously on Hervey Range Road, Black River Road, Bruce Highway and Shaw Road this morning.

Police are encouraging any witnesses who saw the dangerous driving or those with information to come forward.
