Production has begun on Descendants 5, the latest film in the franchise for Disney Channel and Disney+. The cast posted a new photo from the set today on Instagram, which you can see above.

Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker reprise their roles as Princesses Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively, in the new installment of the musical fantasy movie franchise about the teenage progeny of Disney’s most iconic characters and villains.

Picking up shortly after the events of the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red, the yet-untitled next chapter explores what “happily ever after” is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures and delves into the warning at the end of The Rise of Red, “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”

Cast also includes Leonardo Nam reprising his role as Maddox Hatter; Liamani Segura as Pink, Red’s sister; Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Maddox Hatter’s son; Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, Luisa Madrigal’s son; Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, Captain Hook’s daughter; Joel Oulette as Robbie Hood, Robin Hood’s son; Zavien Garrett as Felix Facilier, Dr. Facilier’s son; and Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis as the Smee Twins, twin sons of Mr. Smee from Peter Pan (Ryan is Squirmy Smee, Dayton is Squeaky Smee).

Descendants: The Rise of Red, debuted on Disney+ in July and was last year’s most watched original movie across all streaming among Kids 6-11 and Girls 6-11. Additionally, each premiere telecast of the first three Descendants movies ranks as the most-watched cable movie of the year (2015, 2017 and 2019) among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, according to Disney+ and Nielsen.

Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-sitter’s Club) directs from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (Descendants: The Rise of Red). Returning to the franchise are executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh. Gatewood also serves as co-producer. Emmy-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal (Wicked, Sneakerella) is joining Descendants for the next movie.
