A man in Florida reportedly attacked his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her multiple times in front of their kids after allegedly following her, then leaving her injured outside her residence as he proceeded to go to the hospital himself.

Courtney Anderson, aged 25, was taken into custody on Friday, shortly following a suspected attack on his former partner and the mother of his children. As reported in a probable cause affidavit examined by Law&Crime, the incident was captured on a surveillance camera positioned outside the woman’s residence. Authorities noted that in view of the surveillance — as well as their two children, aged 3 and 5 — Anderson acted violently by allegedly stabbing the woman 12 times. Despite her injuries, she managed to cry out for assistance and reach a neighbor’s house.

According to the affidavit, Anderson was found at a local hospital with a “slice injury” to his hand.

Police said that the woman was observed on camera with the two children walking towards the front door of her home. She was then allegedly ambushed by a man later identified as Anderson, who then allegedly stabbed her “in the area of her head.” According to the affidavit, he can be heard saying, “What’s up, b—?”

The woman fell to the ground, where Anderson allegedly stabbed her seven more times. After Anderson ceased his alleged attack, the 5-year-old child went up to the woman as she tried to stand up. Once she was up, police said that Anderson allegedly rushed back over to stab her four more times, including in the neck.

According to the affidavit, Anderson was seemingly preparing for another attack on the woman when she began screaming and made a run for her neighbor’s house. Anderson then fled the scene.

The woman was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition.

Meanwhile, police said that Anderson drove himself to JFK Medical Center to get treatment for a “slice injury” to his hand. Atlantis Police officers alerted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which then brought Anderson in for questioning.

Police said that Anderson’s clothing matched what he was wearing in the surveillance video, and there was a “blood-like substance” on the steering wheel of the vehicle he drove to the hospital.

According to the affidavit, Anderson was read his rights and stated that he had been arrested in February for domestic battery by strangulation against the same woman. He was ordered not to have contact with her, and a restraining order was filed against him. Anderson told police that since the arrest, he had not been allowed to see his children as much.

Anderson also told police that he believed the woman started a relationship with another man. He indicated that he had been “harassing him on Facebook.”

Police said that Anderson “did not have a clear memory” of the alleged attack. According to the affidavit, Anderson’s vehicle was seen on surveillance cameras following the woman’s vehicle in the moments leading up to the alleged attack.

Anderson was charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, and violation of a no-contact order. He is in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail where he is being held without bail. His next court date is scheduled for July 28.
