Rashee Rice learns fate after NFL probe into ex-girlfriend's claims

The Kansas City Chiefs’ standout, Rashee Rice, will not be subject to any disciplinary measures from the NFL after an investigation into assault allegations made by his former partner concluded without finding him in violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

Earlier this year, Dacoda Jones, who shares children with Rice, initiated legal proceedings against the wide receiver. She accused him of multiple instances of assault over the duration of their relationship, including during her pregnancies.

On Friday, the NFL announced through a report by Adam Schefter that their inquiry determined Rice had not breached the personal conduct code. Consequently, he will not face any penalties related to these claims.

Having wrapped up the examination into the accusations, the league has decided against imposing any sanctions on Rice at this juncture.

In a statement from Rice’s legal representative, Sean Lindsey, he expressed gratitude for the NFL’s comprehensive review and shared his anticipation for beginning the 2026-27 NFL season.

The lawsuit, filed by Jones in February, detailed severe allegations against the Super Bowl champion, claiming he subjected her to acts of grabbing, choking, strangling, pushing, throwing, scratching, hitting, and headbutting.

The mother of Rice’s two children claimed that he strangled her at their home in Texas in December 2023 ‘following an escalation in violent behavior.’ The lawsuit claimed that the wide receiver then continued to assault her until they eventually split in July 2025.

Rice was also accused in the complaint of throwing objects, destroying property, punching walls and breaking furniture, as well as locking Jones out in the middle of the night. It was claimed that a number of these incidents took place while Jones was pregnant.

As a result of the alleged abuse, Jones claimed she has endured multiple physical injuries, as well as ‘significant pain and suffering.’

Jones also uploaded 14 pictures and a lengthy statement on Instagram a month prior to her filing, showing cuts and bruises over her body, parts of her home trashed and her clothes ripped apart.

While she did not specifically name Kansas City Chiefs star in her post, it was interpreted as an allegation against him.

Jones’s statement at the time read: ‘I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH!

‘I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.

‘He’s very controlling, there’s been times he’s came to my new home broken my door, there’s been times when he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant even had the audacity to lock me outside all night in ten degree weather because he got caught cheating.’

She continued: ‘He’s cut up all my shoes and clothes leaving me with nothing because he gotten caught up. And there’s multiple instances of cheating but besides that I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys. It’s not fair he doesn’t call them. He rather be layed up with hoes.

‘He literally left us in Kansas and I had to beg him to send money so that I could drive to Texas with my kids and all our stuff. We have an agreement because of everything he’s put me through and he still doesn’t follow it. He’s now trying to remove me and my kids from our home for no apparent reason. I’ve known this man for YEARS.

‘He tries to put on this persona like he’s dad of the year. He does the bare minimum and I have to beg for that. I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that. It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.’

However, within a matter of days, she deleted the social media post.

Rice appeared to go Instagram official with his new girlfriend, Rubi Rose, on Valentine’s Day in a number of loved-up posts shortly after Jones’s accusations.

In July 2025, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in a multicar crash on a Dallas highway in May 2024, after racing a friend in a Lamborghini. He was also ordered to pay $115,482 to the victims to cover medical expenses.

He was filmed fleeing the scene and later pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges – collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury.

The Chiefs failed to make the playoffs last season after enduring a miserable 6-11 campaign.

Head coach Andy Reid is expected to oversee an offseason of change but Rice, who is on a $6.5 million contract, is set to be a central part of the organization’s future.

He started the season with a six-game suspension due to his involvement in that Dallas car accident. Rice was also recovering from an ACL tear that was sustained in the previous year.
