The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that two burglary suspects were shot and detained after exchanging gunfire with victims.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were shot early Friday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, while trying to burglarize a vehicle.

During a briefing on Friday afternoon, a JSO representative stated that officers arrived at Ardencroft Drive in Sandalwood shortly after 2:30 a.m., where they discovered two individuals with gunshot injuries.

An initial investigation by JSO indicated that the two individuals were caught in the act of committing a crime when they were confronted by two victims and started shooting. In self-defense, the victims returned fire, injuring both suspects.

The sheriff’s office reported that those involved were taken into custody, and the individuals who were shot received medical treatment at a local hospital. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office believes there is no further danger to the community and anyone with information regarding the incident should reach out.
