Trump faces Republican fury as three US troops are killed in Iran war

Donald Trump is encountering significant dissent from within the Republican ranks following the tragic loss of three American soldiers in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

In a surprising response to the casualties, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, issued a statement saying, “Freedom is never free,” raising eyebrows with its timing and tone.

On Sunday morning, the U.S. Central Command confirmed that three American service members had died, with several others sustaining injuries. The command emphasized the sensitivity of the situation, stating, “Out of respect for the families, we will withhold further details, including the names of our fallen heroes, until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.”

A U.S. official has informed news outlets that this conflict with Iran is anticipated to extend over several weeks. However, President Trump has yet to provide a specific timeline. He did mention to CNBC on Sunday that the military operation is “ahead of schedule.”

Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Tehran has retaliated with a series of attacks on U.S. military installations throughout the Middle East, escalating tensions further.

Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Tehran has responded by launching a barrage of attacks against US military bases across the Middle East.

Republicans are also beginning to turn on the president’s war agenda as US casualties continue to climb. Longtime Trump supporters are bashing him for running on a campaign to end military conflicts in the Middle East.

‘This was absolutely unnecessary and is unacceptable,’ Marjorie Taylor Greene said on X. ‘Trump, Vance, Tulsi, and all of us campaigned on no more foreign wars and regime change. Now, America soldiers are dead.’

Representative Thomas Massie, who has long called out the administration for its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, wrote, ‘PSA: Bombing a country on the other side of the globe won’t make the Epstein files go away, any more than the Dow going above 50,000 will.’

Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries demanded Congress unite to restrict Trump’s war powers.

‘Heartbroken by the loss of life of multiple service members in the Middle East,’ Jeffries said. ‘No more American heroes need to die because of a reckless decision to go to war.’

‘Congress must act this week to restrain this President.’

Other top conservative figures have condemned Trump’s Middle East war, including conservative podcasting titan Tucker Carlson.

Carlson called Trump’s decision to embroil the US in a war ‘evil and disgusting.’ The former Fox News host famously campaigned for Trump during the 2024 election.

This morning Iran raised its so-called ‘Red Flag of Revenge’ and vowed to hit the US and Israel with a ‘force never experienced before’.

Trump addressed the American people on camera from his Mar-a-Lago estate shortly after the military strikes began on Saturday morning.

The president warned that US troops could lose their lives in the operation, adding that ‘we may have casualties.’

The blowback Trump is facing from conservative allies and Republican lawmakers may have legacy-altering consequences on the president.

Trump famously ran on ending ‘forever wars’ in the Middle East and not allowing the US to become entangled in military conflicts abroad.
