Andrew looped Epstein into 'confidential' Afghanistan memo

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor included Jeffrey Epstein in a ‘confidential’ memo about investment prospects in Afghanistan, just weeks after supposedly cutting ties with the disgraced financier.

Newly released documents from the US Justice Department revealed emails in which Andrew expressed interest in Epstein’s ‘comments, views, or ideas.’ He inquired about others who might find the information compelling enough to spark interest.

The former prince shared a briefing with Epstein, which had been prepared by the UK-led Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team.

This email was dispatched during the peak of the war against the Taliban, specifically on Christmas Eve in 2010, mere weeks following Andrew’s visit to Epstein’s $60 million Manhattan residence.

In his infamous BBC Newsnight interview, the former Duke of York claimed the New York trip was intended to end his association with Epstein, deeming it the ‘honourable and right thing to do.’

Andrew’s visit to the convicted billionaire’s home occurred 17 months after Epstein was released from jail for child sex offenses.

The Telegraph reported Andrew obtained the Afghanistan document, titled ‘Helmand Investment Opportunities Brief Final.doc’, in his role as the UK’s trade envoy.

His time as UK trade envoy ended in 2011 when he was forced to resign after a photo emerged of him and Epstein walking together in Central Park in New York.

Sir Keir Starmer last night called on Andrew to testify before the US Congress after disturbing photos of the former prince appeared in the latest Epstein files.

The Prime Minister said the disgraced Andrew had a duty to the victims of Epstein, as further damaging material emerged from the disclosure.

Sir Keir said victims ‘have to be the first priority’ and that ‘anybody who has got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they are asked to do that’.

He added that a ‘victim-centred’ approach was why Andrew should co-operate fully and provide information ‘in whatever form’ he is requested.

The comments came after images appearing to show Andrew crouched over an unidentified woman were published.

The photographs form part of more than three million documents released by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

As he arrived in Japan for the final leg of his visit to East Asia, Sir Keir was asked if Andrew should apologise and testify to the congressional Epstein investigation.

The Prime Minister replied: ‘Firstly I always approach this question with the victims of Epstein’s in mind. Epstein’s victims have to be the first priority.

‘Whether there should be an apology, that’s a matter for Andrew.

‘But, yes, in terms of testifying, I’ve always said anybody who’s got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they’re asked to do that because you can’t be victim-centred if you’re not prepared to do that.

Andrew also sent photographs of his daughters Eugenie and Beatrice to Epstein at Christmas.

The King’s brother, 65, included a series of snaps of the sisters in two festive emails sent in 2011 and 2012, files released by the US Department of Justice show.

The pictures were sent when Eugenie was 21 and 22, and Beatrice was 23 and 24, after the disgraced financier’s 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution.

The intimate family snaps were sent up to two years after the former prince previously claimed to have cut off all contact with the paedophile.

The image of him proudly showing off his daughters’ exploits as a doting father figure draws a stark contrast with the secret life he and ex-wife Sarah lived behind closed doors as they rubbed shoulders with the rich and powerful.

The emails were released as part of a tranche of some three million documents relating to Epstein by the US government on Friday, and were just a fraction of the embarrassing content for the former Duke and Duchess of York.

The latest revelations leave Beatrice and Eugenie in ‘trying times’, royal expert Jennie Bond said, as the sisters struggle to navigate their father’s increasingly humiliating position ostracised from the royal family.
