A delivery driver has been filmed on a doorbell camera taking a customer’s order after appearing to have delivered it.

The delivery driver dropped off the order at 9.30pm and Reece headed to the door to pick up the order – only to find there was nothing there.

“You get an alert on your phone and it says your groceries have been delivered, so we head to the front door, open the door and they’re missing,” he told 2GB radio host John Stanley this morning.

“We go back and check the cameras and (saw) what’s happened… the nappy bandit has taken off into the night.”

Reece’s doorbell camera captured the incident, with the father watching in horror as the driver drops the food on the front step, takes a picture of it to confirm the order, then picks it back up and puts it into a bag on his scooter.

He then drives away with the order.

Reece reached out to Uber for a refund, sending them the video as proof, but he says they refused to give him his money back.

“What was really disappointing was I jumped onto Uber, and I thought we’ll sort this out I’ll let them know, I sent them the video,” he said.

“They didn’t take any accountability, they wouldn’t even say sorry…when I asked for a refund, they said no we’re not gonna give it!

“I’ve had to report it to the police which is sad, it could have been dealt with by Uber.”

Uber Australia told 9News they have apologised to Reece and issued a refund after an investigation into the incident.

“We have reviewed this order and acknowledge there was a mistake in how we responded to this complaint initially,” a spokesperson said.

“We have taken steps to contact the customer to apologise and to issue them a refund.

“In tandem we are following up with the delivery person involved to remind them of our community guidelines, which clearly set out the rules that we expect all delivery people to follow.”
