Russia has again dismissed the notion of deploying foreign troops in Ukraine. This announcement coincides with a meeting between European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with a joint discussion with President Donald Trump.

On Thursday, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that any proposal for stationing foreign military forces in Ukraine would be “unacceptable” to Moscow, as reported by Reuters.

“Russia will not entertain any foreign intervention in Ukraine, in any form or format, which is fundamentally unacceptable and undermines security,” Zakharova informed reporters, according to Reuters.

Though the call took place on Thursday morning, the White House did not issue any public statement regarding the discussions or any advancement towards ending the conflict. Nonetheless, Zelenskyy appeared optimistic, expressing gratitude to Trump for the meeting on X.

“I express my special thanks to President Trump for his persistent efforts to conclude this conflict and for America’s willingness to support Ukraine,” Zelenskyy posted.

According to the Ukrainian president, during the meeting that included U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, the global leaders deliberated on contributions from each country to securing Kyiv’s safety.

“We share the same view that Russia is making every effort to drag out the negotiation process and prolong the war. Support for Ukraine must be increased and pressure on Russia must be intensified,” Zelenskyy said.

World leaders have pushed for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, which has raged for more than three years since Moscow’s February 2022 invasion.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House seeking comment on the call but did not immediately hear back.
