The state’s Emergency Management Council is meeting on Friday to discuss potentially bringing forward a review of coronavirus measures.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said he wanted the state to fall into line with the rest of the country.
“We know that the close contact arrangements are important, have been an important tool in the past to mitigate the spread of the virus but we also know it’s having a massive impact on families, businesses and our economy generally,” he said.
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens agreed with the Premier, telling 9News state health authorities were looking for ways to ensure national consistency.
“There have been conversations with interstate counterparts,” he said.
“SA Health are doing some work on that over the last few days and I’m pretty certain there will be some announcement regarding the South Australian position within the coming days.”
Discussions surrounding other measures such as mask-wearing in schools are also being had with the state’s Education Department.
“I’m sure there will be clarity provided to families well before school goes back in a week or so,” Mr Stevens said.
