Shailene Woodley and Ben Foster took the Venice Film Festival by storm on Saturday when they arrived in matching retro outfits.
Shailene, 33, and Foster, 44, embraced the retro ’70s-sleaze style with full commitment while promoting their forthcoming action thriller Motor City — which had its premiere later that evening — during a photocall.
They costar in the film with Reacher’s Alan Ritchson, who leads as an ex-con running around ’70s-era Detroit, Michigan, in search of vengeance after he’s framed for a crime, which pulls him away from his wife (played by Shailene).
The actress — who hit the red carpet earlier this week for the premiere of the George Clooney and Adam Sandler–starring Jay Kelly — was a vision in white with a furry cropped coat featuring a thick collar.
She wore it over an cream-colored dress with a ruched skirt pulled up like a curtain on one side to reveal her trim legs.
The Big Little Lies star emphasized the retro vibe with a pair of large black-frame sunglasses, and she added some extra sparkle to the look with champagne-colored heels decorated with sequins and gold earrings.

The actress opted for a relaxed hairstyle by tying her long brunette tresses into a ponytail.
Ben’s outfit fit the intended period even better. He was dressed in a navy-blue double-breasted blazer with gold buttons and peaked lapels, which he paired with matching navy boot-cut trousers.
Fittingly, he wore a pair of black leather boots, and he elegantly dressed down his outfit by skipping a tie and instead spreading out the collar of his patterned shirt to show off some chest hair.
He sported a short salt-and-pepper beard and complemented Shailene with military-style square aviator sunglasses.
They were joined at the photocall by their costar Pablo Schreiber, who wore a colorful patterned short-sleeve shirt with black trousers and black leather sneakers.
Amar Chadha-Patel also seemed to be inspired by the film’s period trappings, as he wore an appropriate brown shirt with a grid pattern, as well as black flared pants and matching leather boots.
Rounding out the cast at the photocall was Lionel Boyce, who is best known for his role on Jeremy Allen White’s hit dramedy The Bear as the pastry chef Marcus.
They were also accompanied by Motor City’s director, Potsy Ponciroli, who clumsily mixed a gray–blue plaid suit with a white Ford Bronco T-shirt, a yellow baseball cap and white leather sneakers.

His film features an unusual stylistic gambit: it features almost no dialogue.
While speaking to Deadline earlier this week, Foster clarified that the Motor City ‘is not a silent film.’
‘There are about five lines of dialogue. If we think about what makes us human, it’s behavior and how we behave with each other,’ he explained. ‘So it was a fun challenge to tell a story without telling the story in a traditional manner. We were able to relate physically as actors.’

The dress featured a slit rising nearly up to her midriff, and it was decorated with lustrous blue, red and lavender designs.
