The distressing accusations against a man and his former spouse, involving serious sexual offenses, have come to light with the release of their photographs. Philip Young, aged 49, who previously resided in Swindon and now lives in Enfield, faces a staggering 56 charges of sexual offenses. These include multiple allegations of rape against his ex-wife, Joanne Young, aged 48, spanning a period of 13 years.

In addition to the rape charges, Philip Young is accused of administering substances with the intent to incapacitate for sexual purposes, voyeurism, possessing indecent images of children, and holding extreme images.

A photograph from their past shows the former couple smiling together, a stark contrast to the grim legal battle ahead.

The legal proceedings are set to begin as Philip Young, along with five others, is scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The group collectively faces 60 alleged sexual offenses reported to have occurred between 2010 and 2023.

The co-defendants, Norman Macksoni, 47, Dean Hamilton, 46, Conner Sanderson Doyle, 31, Richard Wilkins, 61, and Mohammed Hassan, 37, are charged with various offenses including rape, sexual touching, sexual penetration, and the possession of extreme images.

Macksoni, of Sharnbrook, has been charged with one count of rape and possession of extreme images. 

Hamilton, of no fixed abode, has been charged with one count of rape and sexual assault by penetration and two counts of sexual touching.

Sanderson Doyle, from Swindon, has been charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching.

Wilkins, from Swindon, has been charged with one count of rape and sexual touching.

Hassan, also from Swindon, has been charged with sexual touching.

Ms Young, who has waived her legal right to be named, is being supported by specially trained officers. 

James Foster, Specialist Prosecutor, of the Crown Prosecution Service said: ‘The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the prosecution of Philip Young, Norman Macksoni, Dean Hamilton, Connor Sanderson Doyle, Richard Wilkins and Mohammed Hassan with a number of offences following a police investigation into alleged serious sexual offences against Joanne Young over a period of 13 years.

‘Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to charge and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

‘We have worked closely with Wiltshire Police as they carried out their investigation.’

Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith, of Wiltshire Police said: ‘This is a significant update in what is a complex and extensive investigation.

‘The victim in this case, Joanne, has taken the decision to waive her automatic legal right to anonymity.
