In a recent turn of events, Devon Aoki’s husband has found himself in legal trouble following a hit-and-run incident. James Hunter Bailey, who tied the knot with the renowned actress known for her role in “2 Fast 2 Furious” in 2011, faces serious charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident.

On Monday, authorities arrested the 40-year-old Bailey, charging him with leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in significant bodily harm, as well as resisting an officer without violence. This information, disclosed by court records accessed by the Daily Mail, sheds light on the unfolding situation.

The incident, which has caught public attention, occurred in Coral Gables, Florida. Police officers were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to respond to reports of a hit-and-run accident involving injuries. According to police allegations, Bailey was driving a white Audi SQ7 SUV when he collided with a man navigating a stand-up scooter through a crosswalk.

The severity of the incident was underscored by the victim’s girlfriend, who informed police that her boyfriend’s left foot was trapped beneath the SUV’s right tire, highlighting the immediate impact of the crash.

Bailey and Aoki, who have built a family together with four children, now face a challenging chapter as the legal process unfolds. The outcome of this case will undoubtedly be watched closely, given the public profile of those involved.

The victim’s girlfriend told police that her boyfriend’s ‘left foot was stuck under the vehicle’s right tire.’

‘She was frantically asking the driver of the Audi SQ7 to move the vehicle back in order to release [the victim’s] food from underneath the tire,’ the police report stated.

Bailey allegedly ‘fled the area without rendering aid, providing information or reporting the crash to police.’

The victim sustained serious injuries to his food, including two fractures, according to police. 

Officers said the vehicle was captured on ‘several’ automated license plate readers as it fled the area.

They responded to the sprawling, seven bedroom, seven and half bath mansion listed as the registered address for the Audi SQ7 SUV.

An officer ‘made contact with one of the vehicles registered owners, Ms. Devon Aoki, who stated she did not know the whereabouts of her Audi.’

According to the police report, as the officer was leaving the house, Bailey arrived at the residence in the Audi SQ7 SUV.

The cop said he activated his emergency lights and called out for Bailey to stop walking and come towards him.

However, Bailey allegedly ran away from the officer, entered his home and locked the front door. 

The officer inspected the Audi SQ7 SUV and found that it had ‘minor damage consistent with a collision with a pedestrian on a stand-up scooter.’

When cop’s arrived at the couple’s home, they say Aoki did not know where he Audi was, but shortly after Bailey approached the house and ran inside

‘I observed paint transfer marks and small paint chips on the right front bumper and hood area,’ the cop stated.

A few moments later,  after ‘looking at police officers through the windows,’ Bailey exited the mansion, identified himself and was arrested.

He was booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and released on his own recognizance.

Bailey’s next court date is scheduled for February 13. 

Aoki, whose brother is DJ Steve Aoki, is one of the shortest fashion models in the business, standing at 5ft5in. 

However, she has found plenty of success in the modeling and fashion world.

In the late 90s, she became the face of Versace and also posed for Chanel, Kenzo, Moschino, Fendi and many more.
