Social media quickly buzzed with videos depicting the sizeable police deployment in the area. Observers noted that officers were equipped with tactical gear and long guns, while command vehicles and drones were also deployed, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

The Streamwood police department later clarified that the operation involved an attempt to apprehend a suspect located at a residence. However, details regarding the charges or reasons for the arrest were not immediately available. Additionally, it remained unclear if others were present inside the home.

ABC7 observed video of police using a loudspeaker to try to communicate with the suspect.

Neighbors were told to stay indoors. ABC7 talked to one man who came home from work but couldn’t get to his house.

“It’s strange, because I have never experienced this in this neighborhood, like never,” Streamwood resident Eke Uduma said. “For the number of years I’ve been here, I have never experienced such incidents.”

Police blocked off a number of roads in the area, including an entrance to the subdivision at Lake Street and Elizabeth, and they have been asking people to stay away.

“More and more police just kept showing up, and it was like, wow, something really serious has got to be going on in there,” said Andrew Dvorak, who works nearby.
