'Armed and dangerous': 2 wanted after woman shot and killed at South of the Border in Dillon County

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Authorities in Dillon County are searching for two “armed and dangerous” suspects following a deadly shooting on Thursday afternoon at South of the Border.

The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office reports that Aalyiah Monique Priest, 22, and Ja’Heem Antwan Pernell, 19, both of Hamer, are charged with murder in connection to the shooting. Pernell is additionally charged with possessing a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies arrived at the Pantry West store around 2:45 p.m., responding to a shooting report, and discovered the woman dead, according to the sheriff’s office. Her identity has not been disclosed.

Deputies also arrested Tina Rebecca Pernell, 39, of Hamer, in connection with the shooting. She was charged with accessory after the fact of murder and booked into the Dillon County Detention Center. Deputies expect to file additional charges against all three suspects.

The sheriff’s office said Priest and Ja’Heem Pernell “should be considered armed and dangerous” and said anyone who sees them should immediately contact law enforcement and not approach them.
