The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred this morning in Rehoboth Beach that left one woman dead.
Officials reported that on March 31, 2025, around 7:58 a.m., a Dodge Ram was reversing onto the sidewalk in order to load mulch in the Walmart parking lot at 18922 Rehoboth Mall Boulevard in Rehoboth Beach. Meanwhile, a pedestrian was positioned behind the Dodge, aiming to assist the driver in backing up. Troopers indicated that as the Dodge moved backward, it collided with the pedestrian, pinning her against the building.
The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was declared deceased at the site. Her identity is being withheld until her family is informed.
The driver of the Dodge, a 76-year-old man, also from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was not injured.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Shortly after 8:00 on Monday morning, emergency responders were called to the Walmart parking area on Rehoboth Mall Boulevard. The dispatch followed reports of a pedestrian being struck near the store’s lawn and garden section.
The Rehoboth Beach Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders determined that the pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries and ordered all entrances to the parking lot closed.
Authorities have not yet released details surrounding the incident as they are currently investigating.
Motorists and shoppers in the area will experience delays.
