BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. — A fourth individual implicated in the tragic death of an 18-year-old Bluffton High School football player has entered a guilty plea.

Shaynia Void faced charges related to the fatal shooting of DJ Fields in 2021. The incident occurred on March 5, 2021, when gunfire was unleashed on a vehicle traveling along Bluffton Parkway, resulting in Fields’ death and injuring two other teenagers.

Shaynia has now admitted guilt to charges of second and third-degree assault and battery by mob.

Jayden Void (L) and Shayniah Void (R) 2025

Her sibling, Jayden Void, faced similar accusations and received a 12-year prison sentence in June, with part of his sentence suspended and credit given for time already served.

Additionally, two other individuals were convicted for Fields’ murder: Ty Chaneyfield, who is serving a life sentence, and Jimmie Green, sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment.

Shaynia and Jayden were alleged to have informed Green about the whereabouts of a rival, or “opp,” whom Green sought to retaliate against following an attack on his home.

Fields and his friends were not the people Green and Chaneyfield were targeting, making it an apparent case of mistaken identity.

Shaynia is expected to be sentenced next month.

Another suspect, Messiah Anderson is awaiting trial on murder charges. His trial is expected to start in January.
